It’s hard to believe that the summer is winding down and soon our kids will hear one of my all-time favorite sentences: “Time to go back to school!” Yes, with the end of summer comes the beginning of a new school year. The kids will meet their new teachers, get new books, and make new friends. It’s a time of new beginnings. And when we think about it, our whole life is full of new beginnings, transition, and change.

For our family, this past year has been no exception; we have gone through a great deal of change too. My wife, Gina, left her job in the Westport Connecticut Schools after 7 years. Our son, RJ, married his beautiful wife Dana, and officially began their life together. I finished my time serving at Centerport UMC on Long Island. Then at the end of June, we said goodbye to the church family in Centerport and looked forward to becoming a part of the MTMUMC community.

What a whirlwind it has been! We packed up all our belongings for the moving truck and left to go to our UMARMY camp in Wethersfield. We got home Saturday night, July 2nd. Then the next morning, celebrated the beginning of our ministry together in worship. What an awesome service and fellowship we had that day! Through, celebrating the 4th, attending the cottage meetings, meeting with you in your homes and in my office, meeting with the many teams that help do the work of our church, we have been blessed to become a part of this warm and loving community. You have all made us feel so welcome, through the dinners, invitations, gifts, and most importantly, your prayers. I can’t tell you how fulfilling it has been to hear that many of you are praying for us and our ministry here!

So I would like to take this time to say “Thank You” to all of you. Thank you for your warmth, for your support of my ministry, and for already making this feel like home for all of us. You have helped to make this time of transi- tion very smooth and easy.

As we go forward through this next year, I am excited to participate in your traditions as well as bring some of the experiences I have had to share with you. Together, with the Holy Spirit working in us and through us, our faith will deepen and our hearts will connect even more. On September 18th, we will celebrate all the various ministries of the church. Then on September 25th, we will have a Blessing of the Animals. We look forward to celebrating with you.

There is so much planned for this next season, so come and join us, and invite your friends to join us too! I look forward to growing and serving with you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
