Approximately 25 individuals attended a Town Hall and training program on Oct. 31st that was held at Mary Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church. The program featured panelists from Beth El Center, United Way of Greater New Haven, Bridges and the City of Milford Health Department to cover the topic of emergency response in the community, including homelessness, substance abuse, mental illness, food insecurity and other support services.. Audience members included faith communities, United Way of Milford, Milford Police Social Work Dept, Haven's Harvest, The Rape Crisis Center, Purple Pantry Boxes, Bridgeport Hospital Milford Campus, City of Milford Health and Human Services and many others. Changes going into effect for homelessness response were shared, as well as the need for a flow chart for referrals at various agencies for particular outreach. Stay tuned for more information to be shared, and a big thank you goes out to Jennifer Paradis and Margaret LeFever for organizing.
