MARY TAYLOR MEMORIAL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
United Methodist Women & Prayer Shawl Minnistry

Our next meeting will be Thursday December 8th at 7 p.m. - Wesley Center—Lower Level

769 and counting - That’s the number of shawls our small group has completed!

Thank you all for the response I made for donations of yarn or money to buy yarn.  As always, Mary
Taylor comes through!  It was so good to recognize all the hard working members of the Prayer
Shawl ministry on October 30th.  Some have been with us from the beginning and others are just
starting. If you knit or crochet, please join us.  We always welcome new members.

The need for prayer shawls never seems to decrease.  Our committee tries to meet every request,
but it is hard to keep up.  Might you consider joining us?  If you can’t make our meeting you can knit
or crochet at home.  Try it—you’ll like it!

If you know of someone who would like a shawl, please ask Fran Merva 203-874-0666, Deb Dubien
203-877-4959, Faye Zeiner 203-878-6186, or Joan Zauner 203-283-5643.
MISSION STATEMENT:

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a
community of women whose purpose is to know God and
to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus
Christ, to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to
expand concepts of mission through participation in the
global ministries of the church.

UMW is an organization for all women in the United
Methodist Church.  We enjoy a special feeling of
fellowship, and practice the mission of providing help for
women and children all over the world.  All women of the
church are members of UMW.  Hope to see you at one of
these meetings!

Changing it up for our next meeting!

Our next meeting will be Saturday, April 1, 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. in Dodd Hall.   Our hope
for a Saturday meeting, as with our periodic evening meetings, is to reach our
women who work outside the home.  We will serve a light breakfast.

Our program will include the annual Service of Prayer and Self-Denial and a
presentation of the mission project “Days for Girls.”  We will receive 2017 UMW
pledges.  This program includes combined items from the snow-cancelled January
31st meeting and what would have been the March meeting.  For more information,
please contact Sue O’Shea (203.494.5339) or Joan Zauner (203.283.5643).
